Question from Jayna, a student:

If a car was traveling 20mph east and another car was traveling 30mph west,
assuming they were 300 miles apart, at what point would they collide at the center?

Normally I would know this question,
but it's summer and I lost my notes. Please help me!!

Jayna,

When the cars start they are 300 miles apart. The first moves at 20 mph toward the second and the second moves at 30 mph towards the first. How fast is the distance between them decreasing? At that rate how long will it take for the distance between them to go from 300 miles to 0 miles? How far will the first car travel in that time?
