Jia, Your teacher probably wouldn't like this answer, but there are three ways to compute the area of a triangle using 1/2*(base)*(height): you've got three choices to use as base! But there are many other methods. You can find a list in standard geometry textbooks, or on the web. A nice list of formulas is given on the mathworld site: That is an excellent resource. Also, the Wikipedia has lots of useful mathematics. Chris
