Kellee, I agree with you. If you have 5 hundred dollar bills and 12 ten dollar bills the value is $620. I do however think I understand your daughter's confusion. In school they are talking about place value which was the subject line in your email. When we express a number using the conventional base ten place value notation the place values can only be 0 to 9. Thus the number 620 has 6 in the hundreds position, 2 in the tens position and 0 in the units position. Harley | ||||||||||||
