Question from kelly, a student: the product of two consecutive integers is 9 less than the square of the second integer |
Hi Kelly,
The two integers are consecutive so if the first integer is n the second integer is n + 1.
- What is the product of n and n + 1?
- What is 9 less than the square of n + 1?
These two quantities are equal which gives you an equation you can solve for n.
