Question from Ken, a parent:

A number that divides by six but not by three

We have two responses for you

Hi Ken.

Consider six equal pieces of anything. Can you not pair up those six pieces, therefore creating three equal pieces?

Since 3 is a factor of 6, anything that divides by six evenly also divides by three evenly.

Cheers,
Stephen La Rocque.

Ken,

There is no such number (are you sure this is the question you mean to ask?).
Since 6 = 2x3, any number divisible by 6 is also divisible by 2 and by three.
For example 48 = 8x6 (divisible by 6) = 8x(2x3) = 16x3 (divisible by 3).
