If you have a fraction and you multiply the numerator and denominator by the same nonzero number then the resulting fraction is equivalent to the original fraction. Thus
Similarly if you have a fraction and you divide the numerator and denominator by the same nonzero number then the resulting fraction is equivalent to the original fraction. Thus
In my list of equivalent fractions 1/3 is in the simplest form since there is no common factor in the numerator and denominator. What is the equivalent fraction to 16/20 in simplest form? Harley
