Question from Tamara, a student:

We drop an object from rest (i.e. its initial speed is zero. It is falling freely toward the ground. What will be its speed after 5 seconds of falling?

Tamara,

This is very similar to your previous question. This time the initial velocity is zero and the acceleration is the acceleration due to gravity. You didn't tell us what units you are using for distance but the acceleration is in distance per second per second so you can apply the technique I showed you for your previous problem.
