Question from tina, a student:

the surface area of a sphere is about 86 ft (2) find the surface area of a larger sphere that has a scale factor of 4

Tina,

The surface area of a sphere of radius r feet is 4 π r2 square feet. Thus if your sphere satisfies

4 π r2 = 86 square feet.

What is r? If the scale factor is 4 what is the new radius? What is the new surface area?
