Question from addie, a student:

(3+10) x 10 - 8 x 4 =

Hi Addie,

The parentheses group things together and you should do these first. 3 + 10 = 13 so the problem becomes 13 × 10 - 8 × 4. You have two multiplications and a subtraction. You should perform the multiplications first which leaves you with a subtraction for the final operation.
