Question from Blanca, a parent:
Between which two consecutive natural numbers does the improper fraction 57/56 lie?

Imagine a heap of pie-wedge shaped pieces, all the same shape, such that 56 of them make up a full disc.

If you have 57 of them, how many full discs can you make? You may have bits left over.

If you are allowed to count the disc you started as well as the one(s) you completed, how many discs is that?

Good Hunting!
RD

PS: Another approach: It is clear that 57 and 56 are related by one being 1 greater than the other.

Between what consecutive natural numbers does 3/2 lie? 4/3? 5/4?
