Question from crystal, a student:

The length of a rectangular room is 7 feet longer than its width. The area of the room is 60 feet. What are the dimensions of the room?

Hi Crystal,

Suppose the width of the room is w feet. What is the length of the room?

The area of a rectangle is the length times the width. Write the w times the length you found above and set the product equal to 60 square feet. Solve for w.
