Question from Cyndi:

How long will it take for 5 feet of snow in an area of 17 by 12 to melt at 35 degrees and cloudy.

Cyndi,

This depends on a lot of things such as wind, humidity, latitude, date, cloud thickness, snow density, presence or absence of dark particles on top of snow, ground temperature, and presence of vertical structures casting shadows or reflecting light. (It does not, however, depend on surface area.)
