Question from Harold:

I went to a motorcycle dealership and saw a motorcycle costing $11,000. Dealerships have a way of marking up a product about 300%. What is the original cost of the motorcycle before the 300% markup?

Harold,

This sounds unduly pessimistic. 300% means "300/100 ths" or "3 times." 300% markup means "adding three times the original price to the original price" or "multiplying it by four."

What is the original cost of the motorcycle before the 300% markup?

You should be able to work this out now.

Good Hunting!
