Question from Ivy, a student:

My tens digit is 4 less than my thousands digit. My ones digit is twice my tens digit. My ten thousands digit is one less than my ones digit. My hundreds digit is the sum of my tens and thousands digit. My thousands digit is 6.

Hi Ivy,

I can get you started. The largest digit mentioned is the ten thousands digit so our number has the form

                        .

You are told the thousands digit is 6 so the number must be

     6                .

The tens digit is 4 less than my thousands digit.

What is the tens digit?

The ones digit is twice my tens digit.

What is the ones digit?

Can you complete it now?

Penny
