Question from jack, a student:

If x is an odd integer, which of the following must also be an odd integers
a) x+1; b) 2x; c) x+4; d) x-1; e) x/2? Please help me to solve this problem. Thank you.

Hi Jack,

Try an example, say x = 5. What is x + 1, x + 2, x + 3, x + 4, x + 5, x + 6? Which are odd? Which of a), b), c), d), or e) is odd? Why is it odd?
