Question from joan, a student:

how can i answer it easily to convert terminating decimal to fraction?
example of this is that, convert ...143143143... to fractional form

Joan,

The dots at the end represent an infinite string of missing digits in the same pattern. The dot at the beginning is presumably a decimal point and should be single.

Find (use a calculator if you like) 1/9, 1/99, 1/999, 1/9999 as decimals.

Do you see a pattern?

Now find 17/99, 38/99, 2/99, - see the pattern?

You should be able to answer your own question now - check your answer of course.

Good Hunting!
