Question from Karen, a student:

Divide and reduce to lowest terms.
Use the cancellation technique as needed

4 2/3 divided by 12
14/3 divided by 12/1 not sure where to go from here with the cancellation technique

Karen,

The question asks you to reduce four and two thirds divided by twelve. That is equivalent to asking you to reduce one twelfth of four and two thirds or 1/12 × 4 2/3. You correctly wrote 4 2/3 as 14/3 so what you have is

1/12 × 14/3.

Can you finish it now?
