Question from Martha, a parent:

Karen spent all but $8.00 of her savings in three stores. In each store
she spent $2.00 less than half of what she had when she went in. How
much money did Karen have at the start.

RespoMartha,

In the last store she spent $2.00 less than half what she went in with, so she kept $2.00 more than half of what she went in with, being $8.00. Thus half what she went in with was $6.00, and she went in with $12.00.

Repeat this for the second and first stores.

Good Hunting!
