Question from Melodie, a student:

7x - 4y = -10
4y= x-2

Hello Melodie,

Suppose we had the following system,

x - 2y = 3
2y = 4x-1

If 2y = 4x-1 then,

x - 2y = x - (4x-1) = 3

and you get an equation only in the variable 'x'.
After you find x, you can find y using either equation.
