Question from Rusty, a parent: If Jo left his house at 6:30am traveling at 5mph and Joan left the same house 7:00am traveling at 8mph, at what time would Joan catch Jo? |
Hi Rusty,
In the half hour between 6:30 and 7:00 Jo had been walking at 5 miles per hour so she walked 2.5 miles. Joan then starts to walk at 3 miles per hour faster than Jo. How long will it take Joan to catch up, that is at 3 miles per hour how long does it take to travel 2.5 miles? What time is it then?
