Question from tabby, a student:

How many terms are there in this sequence?
5,1,-3,...,-111

thank you.

Tabby,

Consider the segment of the number line from -111 to 5. This segment is 111 + 5 = 116 units long. The terms of your sequence are in this segment and 4 units apart. Thus they divide the segment into 116/4 = 29 parts. How many terms are in the sequence? Make sure you count the first and last terms.
