Question from venkatesh, a student:

Q:)walking at 4/5 of his usual speed a man is 10 minutes too late .find his usual time.

pls clear my confusion with above qsn.......im not getting answer..

Venkatesh,

I can help you get started.

Suppose his normal rate is r feet per minute and his normal time for the trip is t minutes. Since distance is equal to time times rate you know the distance he travels is r × t feet. You are told that is the rate is 4/5 × r feet per minute then the time to travel the same distance is t + 10 minutes.

I hope this helps,
Penny
