Question from ana, a student:

(5xy)^5

Hi Ana,

(5xy)5 = (5xy)(5xy)(5xy)(5xy)(5xy)

Since multiplication is commutative (a times b is equal to b times a) this can be written

(5xy)(5xy)(5xy)(5xy)(5xy)
= (5 × 5 × 5 × 5 × 5)(x × x × x × x × x)(y × y × y × y × y )
= 55 x5 y5.
