Question from Fiona, a student:

Could you help me find the value of n: (1-1/2)(2-2/3)(3-3/4)...(15-15/16)=n!/16
n/n= fraction
Thanks so much!

Hi Fiona,

Write each of the factors on the left as one fraction, for example

\[1 - \frac12 = \frac12, 2 - \frac23 = \frac43 \mbox{ and so on.}\]

What do you notice about the numerators? Now simplify the left side.

Does this help? Write back if you need more assistance,
Penny
