Question from Kat, a student:

I need to make $\$1000$ profit selling plants for $\$3$ each. My direct cost is $\$2$ per plant and my overhead is $\$5oo.$ How many pots (plants = 1 per pot) do I need to make $\$1000?$

Kat,

If you sell the plants for $\$3.00$ each and your direct costs are $\$2.00$ for each plant then you make $\$1.00$ for each plant. At $\$1.00$ for each plant how many do you need to make enough money to cover your overhead? How many more do you need to sell to make $\$1,000?$ How many is that in Total?
