exact amount: philip has a quarter, a dime, a nickel, and a penny. for how many different prices could he give the exact amount?

Nestor,

I would organize the possibilities by number of coins.

1 coin:

Quarter: 25 cents
Dime: 10 cents
and so on.

2 coins:

Quarter and dime: 35 cents
Quarter and nickel: 30 cents
Quarter and penny: 26 cents
Dime and nickel: 15 cents
and so on

3 coins:

......

4 coins:

......
