Question from Chloe, a student:

hey okay im having trouble with a math question. how do you put these fractions in number order

8/14 11/28 3/7

Hi Chloe,

You need to find the common denominator for these three fractions before you can order them from least to greatest.
ex: 5/8 and 1/2. My common denominator for 8 and 2 is 8. So to get 1/2 with a denominator of 8 we multiply the numerator AND denominator by 4, giving us 1x4=4 and 2x4=8, so we have 4/8.

Now that they have the same denominator you order the numerators from smallest to largest.

4/8, 5/8. or 1/2, 5/8.

Hope that helps,
Jaymie
