Question from Dazz, a student:

Hi I was wondering how to find the length of a rectangle if you know the area is 484 square inches And the length is 10 square inches or 22 square inches?
Thanks~Dazz

Hi Dazz,

I think what you mean to ask is "I was wondering how to find the length of a rectangle if you know the area is 484 square inches and the length is 22 inches."

The area of a rectangle is its length times its width. You have an area of 484 square inches and a length of 22 inches so

\[22 \times \mbox{width} = 484.\]

What is the width?

Now try it for a length is 10 inches.
