Question from Jacob, a student:

To whom it may concern:

I am having trouble finding the area of an irregular hexagon with 5 right angles.
It has 5 given sides, with the lengths as follows:

8.2 ft.
6 ft.
4.5 ft.
2.2 ft.
6 and one third ft.

If I could have any help at all, I would be really grateful.

Regards,

Jacob

Try drawing an accurate picture -- it should look like a house with a big chimney on one side. You should then divide your figure into two rectangles and a right triangle, find the areas of these three pieces, and add them together.
