Question from Shelli, a student: How do you find the area of a right triangle if you only know that the hypotenuse is 10 and that the base and height are unknown but are equal? |
Hi Shelli,
Suppose that the length of the base is $x$ units, then the height is $x$ units. What does Pythagoras theorem tell you? Solve for $x.$ Can you find the area now?
