Question from Zoey:

What is the exponential form of 1/8??
Thxs

Hi Zoey,

Exponential form means anything involving exponents, so there are many answers to this question. I do know that $8 = 2^3$ so you could write

\[\frac18 = \frac{1}{2^3}.\]

You could also write

\[\frac18 = \left( {\frac12} \right) ^3\]

or

\[\frac18 = 2^{-3}.\]

I would say all of these are in exponential form but I am not sure what your teacher expects.
