Question from Aaron:

How many acres does a 4.5 mi strip 52 inches wide make?

First convert the 4.5mi and the 52 inches to be measurements in feet. You can use Wikipedia to look up how many feet in a mile and how many inches in a foot. Once you have done this multiply the two resulting numbers together to get the area of the rectangular strip in square feet (assuming
it is rectangular).

Use the following link to find out how many square feet in an acre:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acre

Divide the number of square feet in the property by the number of square feet in an acre to determine how many acres you have.

Dr. L. Dame
