Question from henry, a student:

When 150 litres has been drawn from a tank, it is 3/8 full, how many litres will the tank hold?

Hi Henry,

I am going to assume that the tank is full when you begin to draw it down. After you have drawn off 150 litres the tank is 3/8 full. That means that you have drawn off 1 - 3/8 = 5/8 of the liquid that was in the tank. If 150 litres is 5/8 of what the tank will hold how much will it hold when it is full?
