Question from joAnn, a student:

i am trying to figure out how to solve a question like this for example:

650(1+.005)96

I have been doing it this way but takes forever and wanted to know a shorter way

650 x 1.005 x 1.005 x 1.005 x 1.005 96 times

HELP

Hi joAnn,

On my calculator there is a "power" button labeled $y^x.$ This lets you find powers.

First I typed in 1.005 then pressed the $y^x$ button then I typed 96 followed by the = button. This gave me $1.005^{96}$ so I multiplied this by 650.

Is there such a button on your calculator?
