Question from Johan:

We have 8 golfers playing 8 games, and we want to schedule them so that they play together equal amount of times, or as close as you can get to that.
They will be playing in two four balls each day.
Anyone sorted this one out yet, I will really appreciate a solution?
Thanks
Johan

Johan,

There is a schedule where every pair has been together exactly three times after seven rounds. It is below. Play the days in any order to get some more variety. Add the eighth day any way you want. It is the best possible no matter what you do.

Day 1: 1 2 3 4; 5 6 7 8
Day 2: 1 2 5 6; 3 4 7 8
Day 3: 1 2 7 8; 2 3 4 5
Day 4: 1 3 5 7; 2 3 6 8
Day 5: 1 3 6 8; 2 4 5 7
Day 6: 1 4 5 8; 2 3 6 7
Day 7: 1 4 6 7; 2 3 5 8
