Question from M, a student: 7x-1/4-1/3[2x -1-x/2]=19/3 |
Hi,
The first step I would try in solving
\[7x-\frac14-\frac13 \left[ 2x -1- \frac{x}{2} \right] = \frac{19}{3}\]
is to multiply
\[\frac13 \left[ 2x -1- \frac{x}{2} \right]. \]
This will transform the original equation to one with fractions having denominators 3, 4 and 6. Find the least common multiple of 3, 4 and 6 and multiply both sides of the equation by this number. This will transform the equation into one with no fractions. Solve this equation for x.
