Question from Pat:

16 golfers...3 nine hole rounds a day...for 4 days.
what are the best pairings for the fewest repeats of partners?

Pat,

For 16 players, there is a schedule where every pair is together exactly once over 5 rounds. You can find it in the archives (search for golf 16). It does not matter if the rounds are 9 or 18 holes, provided the foursomes can rearrange after each round. The best you can do is use this schedule twice, and then any 2 rounds of it again. Every pair will have been together twice, and some will have been together three times.

For variety, renumber the players after the fist 5 rounds are complete, and then again after the next 5.
