Question from Sharon:

I want to sell some earrings and make a $\$12.00$ profit on them I have to pay a
$35\%$ commission on them. How much should I price the earrings?

Hi Sharon,

Suppose you price the earrings at $\$P$ then the commission is $35\%$ of $\$P$ and your share is $65\%$ of $\$P.$ Thus

\[0.65 \times \$P = \$12\]

Solve for $P.$

Write back if you need more assistance,
Penny
