Question from Vina:

I have a bale of sawdust that containers 5 1/2 cubic feet. How many will I need to make a cubic yard?

Hi Vina,

A yard is 3 feet and hence a cubic yard is 3 feet by 3 feet by 3 feet and thus $3 \times 3 \times 3 = 27$ cubic yards. Your bale is 5.5 cubic yards and thus it will take $\large \frac{27}{5.5}$ of them to make a cubic yard.
