Question from Warren, a student:

solve this simultaneous equation:
xy=4
2x+3y=14

Hi Warren,

I would solve the second equation for $y$ to get $y = \frac13 (14 - 2x)$ and then substitute into the first equation $xy = 4.$ This will give you a quadratic in $x$ which you can factor.
