Question from Finn, a student:

Hello,
The question is all about buy-and-sell business.
Problem:
Pencil - $\$6$ for wholesale price
$\$8$ if I sell the item
How do I get the 25% profit? (you can change the wholesale price and the retail price[if i sell the item])
if I buy the pencil at 24 pieces and sell it at 24 pieces..

Hi Finn,

You bought the pencils for $\$6$ and sold them for $\$8$ so your profit was $\$8 - \$6 = \$2.$ The person who purchased the pencils from you paid $\$8$ and your profit was $\$2,$ hence your profit as a fraction of what he paid is $\frac28 = \frac14 = 25\%.$
