Question from fRitz, a student:

if (x,4) is equidistant from (5,-2) and (3,4), find x.

Hi fRitz,

Using the distance formula the distance from $(x,4)$ to $(5,-2)$ is

\[\sqrt{(x - 5)^2 + (4 -(-2))^2}\]

Find the distance from $(x,4)$ to $(3,4),$ set the expressions equal and solve for $x.$
