Question from indu, a parent:

students of a school have been into 2 groups in the ratio 6:11, if the group has 870 students, how many students are there in all the school?

Hi Indu,

There is an error in the wording of the problem, it should be:

students of a school have been into 2 groups in the ratio 6:11, if the first group has 870 students, how many students are there in all the school?

Since the students have been put into two groups in the ratio 6:11 you can arrange the students into rows of 17 students, each row containing 6 students from the first group and 11 students from the second group. There is a total of 870 students in the first group. How many rows are there? How many students are there in the school?
