Question from shadab, a student:

A container of milk is 4/5 full. When 10l milk is poured into it, the container becomes 9/10 full. What is the capacity of the container ?

Hi Shadab,

You have two fractions, one with a denominator of 5 and the other with a denominator of 10. Find an equivalent fraction so that both fractions are expressed with a denominator of 10. When you added $10\; l$ of milk how many tenths did you add? What is the capacity of the container?
