To compute a portion of a number we can multiply. For instance $\large \frac45 $ of $23$ is
\[\frac45 \times 23 = 18.4.\]
This works when there are units as well. For instance $\large \frac45$ of $\$23$ is
\[\frac45 \times \$23 = \$18.4\]
