Question from Maddy, a student:

3 times the largest of three consecutive odd integers is 13 more than the sum of the other two. What are the integers?

Hi Maddy,

I can help get you started.

Suppose $n$ is the middle one of the three consecutive odd integers. The next integer is $n + 1$ but that's even so the next odd integer is $n + 2.$ Similarly the previous odd integer to $n$ is $n - 2.$

Use the facts given in the problem to write and equation for $n$ and solve it.
