Question from Peggy:

roll of paper 3ft wide and roll equals 500 sq ft how long would the roll be?

Hi Peggy,

If you roll out the roll of paper it becomes a long rectangle 3 feet wide. The area of a rectangle is the length times the width and hence for your rectangle

\[\mbox{length }\times 3 = 500.\]

Solve for the length,
Penny
