Question from Rich:

How many square feet in 10 gallons of liquid at 1/4 in thick?

Hi Rich,

One gallon is 0.13368 cubic feet so 10 gallons is $10 \times 0.13368 = 1.3368$ cubic feet. There are 12 inches in a foot so 1/4 of an inch is 1/48 of a foot. Thus if your area is $x$ square feet then

\[x \times \frac{1}{48} = 1.3368\]

and thus

\[x = 48 \times 1.3368 \mbox{ square feet.}\]
