I was paid $\$27000.$ This is 67% of the Total Owed. The Total Owed is unknown. How do I calculate the amount of the Total Owed?

If the total owed was $\$T$ then you would have been paid 67% of $\$T,$ that is you would have been paid $0.67 \times \$T.$ But you were paid $\$27000$ so

\[0.67 \times \$T = \$27000.\]

To solve for $\$T$ divide both sides by 0.67.
