Question from Kaitlin, a student: Here is the question I am struggling with: Is the sum of two repeating decimals always repeating decimal? Explain your answer and give an example. I answered this question thinking that no you cannot but only when adding 0.9 repeating, but my professor said this was incorrect. Thanks for the help! |
Hi Kaitlin,
Every repeating decimal number can be written as a common fraction. Write the two repeating decimal as common fractions and add the fractions. Express the answer as a decimal. What do you get?
